Azerbaijani fighters will test their strength at this year`s World Para-Taekwondo Championship to be held in conjunction with the Swiss Open in Lausanne, Switzerland, on June 8.
The national squad includes 15 taekwondo fighters.
Modified competition rules apply to Para-taekwondo, which features events for competitors with amputation with both limbs above elbows, amputation of one limb above the elbow, amputation of both limbs below the elbows, and amputation of one limb below the elbow.
Attacks to the head are prohibited and the duration of the contest is three rounds of one minute each with a one-minute break between rounds.
The event has witnessed a sufficient growth in participants since first launching back in 2009 when 36 athletes competed in Baku.
The 2010 Championships had been held in St Petersburg.
The WTF tried unsuccessfully to get the event included on the programme at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro but are hoping to reapply for 2020.
