The Beijing Military Region Taekwondo Team has claimed a total of 104 gold medals at major international events, including the World Championship, Asian Games, Youth Olympic Games, Military World Games and Taekwondo World Championship of International Military Sports, over the past 13 years.

When the team was founded in 2000, there were only seven team members, including the coach, who was also a taekwondo master. It is currently the only taekwondo team in the country's military system.

Taekwondo is a martial art that originated in Korea. It combines combat and self-defense techniques with sports and exercise. In 1989, taekwondo became the world's most popular martial art.
